Our story

eco-chalet Maison Dominique

Our eco-chalet, Maison Dominique, is located in the old village of Maè, nestled in the wonderful Valle d’Ayas, considered by some as the most beautiful valley in Europe at 1100 meters above sea level. It boasts a marvelous view of Graines Castle and is surrounded by the peaks of Mont Nery, the Ladies of Challand, and countless mountain pastures, alpine meadows, and lakes.

Easy and moderate difficulty walks lead on foot, by mountain bike, or horseback both towards the lower valley in the direction of Verres among chestnut trees and deciduous forests amidst the ruins of Villa Castle, its lake, and natural waterfalls, and towards the mountains or to the former gold-bearing quartz mines of Béchaz along paths among conifers along medieval irrigation channels up to the majestic glaciers at the foot of Monte Rosa.

For fishing enthusiasts, there is the possibility of catch-and-release fishing at the Evançon stream reserve in Challand Saint Anselme. In winter, in the hamlet of Allésaz, you can practice ice climbing on a 120-meter waterfall; a few kilometers away in Brusson are the first cross-country ski slopes among the best in Europe where world cup races are held; in Palasinaz, there are alpine skiing slopes, cross-country skiing trails, and a snow park for both adults and children; at Col di Joux, a terrace overlooking the Alps with a view of Mont Blanc, there are snowshoeing trails, and heading towards Champoluc, one of the largest alpine skiing areas in the Alps with over 190 km of slopes with the possibility of connections to the adjacent valleys of Gressoney and Alagna and, for those who love ski mountaineering, countless adventurous excursions.

Our eco-chalet is affiliated with the Monterosaterme Wellness Center for those who wish to spend moments of total well-being.
